Description

A recipe for creamy, spicy pasta featuring chicken coated in a honey butter Cajun sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound pasta (fettuccine or penne recommended)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.
  2. While pasta cooks, season chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the remaining 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning, honey, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
  8. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Add the drained pasta and toss everything together until the pasta is fully coated in the sauce.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra heat, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs for chicken breast if desired.
