Description

A simple recipe for taco bowls using Fritos chips smothered in seasoned ground beef and toppings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 bag (9.25 ounces) Fritos Original Corn Chips
  • Sour cream, for topping (optional)
  • Salsa, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  4. To assemble the bowls, place a layer of Fritos chips in the bottom of each bowl.
  5. Spoon the seasoned beef mixture over the chips.
  6. Top with black beans, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
  7. Add sour cream and salsa if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of chili powder to the beef mixture.
