- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (16 ounce) package cream cheese frosting
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles
- Fresh strawberries, sliced
- Fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, buttermilk, eggs, vegetable oil, water, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cake is completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
- Decorate the cake with red, white, and blue sprinkles. Arrange sliced strawberries and blueberries on top to resemble the American flag.

- For a layered cake, bake two 8-inch round cakes and frost between layers.
- Ensure your cake is completely cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
