Description
Simple recipe for making no-bake chocolate mint Oreo truffles.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 16 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
- Green food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a bag and crushing them with a rolling pin.
- In a medium bowl, mix the Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese until fully combined. Add peppermint extract and green food coloring now if you are using them.
- Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Chill the balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes until firm.
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate according to package directions. You can use a double boiler or microwave in short intervals, stirring often.
- Dip each chilled ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Return the coated truffles to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Allow the chocolate coating to set completely at room temperature or chill briefly until firm.
Notes
- For a smoother coating, add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil or shortening to the melted chocolate.
- You can substitute dark chocolate or white chocolate for the semi-sweet chocolate.
- Store finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
