Description

Quick and easy shrimp cocktail served in individual spoons for simple party serving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb cooked, peeled, and deveined shrimp, medium size
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 small appetizer spoons or small cocktail glasses

Instructions

  1. Thaw shrimp if frozen and pat them dry with paper towels. Cut larger shrimp in half so they fit well on the spoons.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth. This is your cocktail sauce.
  3. Place about 1 teaspoon of cocktail sauce into the bottom of each appetizer spoon or small glass.
  4. Top each serving with one or two pieces of shrimp.
  5. Chill the shrimp bites for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can prepare the cocktail sauce up to one day ahead and store it covered in the refrigerator.
  • For a slight variation, add a dash of hot sauce to the cocktail sauce mixture.
