Description

A straightforward recipe for grilling two steaks to a desired doneness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (10 ounce) beef steaks, about 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Remove steaks from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels.
  3. Brush both sides of the steaks with olive oil.
  4. Sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over both sides of the steaks.
  5. Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450-500 degrees Fahrenheit).
  6. Place steaks directly over the heat.
  7. Grill for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting time for your preferred doneness.
  8. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130-135°F for medium-rare).
  9. Remove steaks from the grill and place them on a cutting board.
  10. Let the steaks rest, tented loosely with foil, for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For best results, use a cast iron grate if available.
  • Resting the meat allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender steak.
