Description
A straightforward recipe for grilling two steaks to a desired doneness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (10 ounce) beef steaks, about 1 inch thick
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon coarse salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Remove steaks from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking.
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels.
- Brush both sides of the steaks with olive oil.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over both sides of the steaks.
- Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450-500 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Place steaks directly over the heat.
- Grill for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting time for your preferred doneness.
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130-135°F for medium-rare).
- Remove steaks from the grill and place them on a cutting board.
- Let the steaks rest, tented loosely with foil, for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For best results, use a cast iron grate if available.
- Resting the meat allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender steak.
