  • 6 large banana peppers
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Cut the banana peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Stuff the pepper halves evenly with the meat mixture.
  5. Place the stuffed peppers in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Pour the tomato sauce over the peppers.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the peppers, and bake uncovered for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.

  • You can substitute ground turkey or sausage for the ground beef.
  • For a less spicy pepper, soak the halved peppers in cold water for 15 minutes before stuffing.
