  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken pieces, yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric, cumin, coriander, garam masala, and salt. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low, stir in the heavy cream and sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
