Description

A traditional creamy coconut and rum beverage from Puerto Rico, similar to eggnog.


Ingredients

  • 1 (13.5 oz) can full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 (15 oz) can cream of coconut (like Coco Lopez)
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup white rum (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Combine the coconut milk, cream of coconut, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk in a blender.
  2. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth.
  3. Add the rum, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the blender.
  4. Blend again briefly to combine all ingredients.
  5. Pour the mixture into a glass bottle or pitcher.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
  7. Shake well before serving.
  8. Serve chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and add 1/2 cup of extra evaporated milk or water.
  • You can adjust the amount of rum based on your preference for strength.
  • The coquito thickens as it chills.
