Description
A simple recipe for lasagna flavors made in a single pot.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground meat in a large pot over medium heat. Drain the fat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add the broken lasagna noodles and the water. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the ricotta cheese and Parmesan cheese until combined.
- Ladle the soup into bowls. Top each serving with mozzarella cheese.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use Italian sausage instead of ground beef.
- You can substitute vegetable broth for beef broth if desired.
- Stir well after adding the noodles to prevent them from clumping at the bottom of the pot.
