A simple recipe for classic meatball subs with marinara sauce.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 4 sub rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
- Brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium-high heat, or bake them on a baking sheet for 15-20 minutes until browned.
- Pour the marinara sauce into a saucepan and add the browned meatballs. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Slice the sub rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through.
- Spoon the meatball and marinara mixture into the rolls.
- Top with mozzarella cheese.
- Place the subs on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture for a little heat.
- For extra flavor, toast the sub rolls lightly before filling.
