Description
A simple recipe for pan-seared tilapia fillets flavored with lemon, garlic, and butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Tilapia fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup Fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the tilapia fillets in the hot skillet. Sear for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter to the same skillet. Let it melt.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
- Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest. Cook for 30 seconds, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Return the tilapia fillets to the skillet. Spoon the lemon garlic butter sauce over the fish.
- Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute butter with margarine if you prefer.
- If you do not have fresh parsley, dried parsley works as a substitute, use 1 teaspoon.
