- 2 large potatoes, peeled
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter or oil
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Grate the potatoes using a box grater or food processor. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a clean kitchen towel.
- Heat the butter or oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Add the grated potatoes and chopped onion to the skillet. Spread them into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper over the potatoes.
- Cook undisturbed for 8 to 10 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip the hash browns in sections or use a large plate to invert them onto the plate, then slide them back into the skillet.
- Cook the second side for another 7 to 9 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, do not overcrowd the pan when cooking.
- You can add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.
