Description

A simple recipe for rice mixed with steak and a creamy queso sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice with water and butter according to package directions.
  2. Season steak pieces with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steak until browned and done to your preference. Remove steak and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  5. Reduce heat to low. Stir in shredded cheese and evaporated milk until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Stir the cooked rice and steak into the queso sauce. Mix well until everything is coated.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute sirloin with flank steak or skirt steak.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of chili powder to the sauce.
