Simple recipe for classic buttery spritz cookies made with a cookie press.

- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined into a dough. Do not overmix.
- Fit your cookie press with your desired disc and fill the press with the dough.
- Press the dough directly onto the prepared baking sheets in desired shapes.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- You can add 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract with the vanilla for a different flavor.
- Decorate cooled cookies with sprinkles or a light glaze if desired.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
