Description
A baked pasta dish using bowtie pasta instead of traditional lasagna noodles, layered with meat sauce and cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 ounces bowtie pasta
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
- Stir the marinara sauce into the cooked ground beef. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, oregano, and pepper until combined.
- Cook the bowtie pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce mixture on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Layer half of the cooked bowtie pasta over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture evenly over the pasta layer.
- Sprinkle one-third of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta.
- Repeat the layers: remaining pasta, remaining ricotta mixture, and another third of the mozzarella.
- Top with the remaining meat sauce and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are browned.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef.
- For a richer flavor, add 1/2 cup of chopped onion to the meat sauce while browning the beef.
