Ingredients

- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For deeper flavor, simmer for 1 hour or longer.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- Serve with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped cilantro.
- Adjust chili powder and cumin to your spice preference.
