Simple Crockpot BBQ Chicken

Description

Cook chicken breasts in a slow cooker with barbecue sauce for an easy meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, water, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  5. Remove chicken and shred it using two forks.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat with the sauce.
  7. Serve hot on buns or over rice.

Notes

  • For thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • You can substitute brown sugar for some of the barbecue sauce for extra sweetness.
